Hawaii is the 50th state to join the United States of America. The state is composed entirely of islands located in the Pacific Ocean, roughly 2000 miles southwest of the contiguous United States. In regards to tourism, the largest and most popular of the islands (and their nicknames) are Hawaii Island (The Big Island), Maui (The Valley Island), Oahu (The Gathering Place), Kauai (The Garden Island), Molokai (The Friendly Island), and Lanai (The Pineapple Island). Peak season for tourism in Hawaii is in June, July, and August, with December and March also experiencing heavy traffic.
